Brands Hatch British Superbikes
2005
Monday Race Day
I was hoping things would have gone a little better for me today
but I didn't get the results that I had hoped for. I got a
really good start in the first race I managed to settle into
fifth place behind the leading bunch and was really happy to be
running up there with them.
I started struggling for grip mid
way through the race and started going backwards through the
grid. I still managed to end up 8th from 11th on the grid so I
was fairly happy that I had made an improvement on my starting
position. I had problems on two corners mainly the hairpin,
Druids and the last corner, Clearways.
We made a few alterations between the two races and I choose to
run on the same tyres that Glen was running on in the first
race, it was a slightly softer compound and a few changes were
made to the suspension. Unfortunately it didn't seem to help
matters but the good thing is we know what we need to change and
we know how we need to change it to get things sorted out. I'm
still feeling pretty confident about the rest of the season and
I still need to alter my riding style to adapt from the Ducati
to the Kawasaki.
The team are great and when the small problems are sorted out
the bike will be awesome. It proved today that it can get podium
places as Glen managed to finish third in the first race which
has given me loads of confidence as we head to Thruxton in a
couple of weeks time. I'm pretty harsh on the throttle and I
need to be much smoother with the way I ride. However I did have
a good weekend and I certainly know that we can make very good
progress and can't wait to get to Thruxton.
